Torn Ankle Ligament
An Ankle Ligament Tear is one of the most common sports injuries which occur when one twists or rolls his/her ankle during any activity. Often people are confused between the regular sprain and a high torn ligament because both of them result in swelling leaving you unable to move without severe pain. However, the severity can decide what treatment you will need.
If your ankle rolls inwards, the ligaments that attach the ankle bone and the fibula bone are damaged. This happens during the low ankle sprain and is often treated without surgery. When the tough ligaments that hold the lower leg bones together are torn the injury is stated to be serious and may need surgery. Often known as syndesmosis injury it may even result in the two bones springing apart.
