What is ACL?
It is one of the important ligaments in the knee joint that keeps your knee stable - back & forth and rotational.
How do you get ACL injuries?
1-It is common in sports that involve running, jumping and cutting movements.
2-Landing after a jump.
3-Body rotating with foot fixed on floor.
4- Pivoting injury involving change in direction and deceleration.
Sign & Symptoms
Pain, swelling , difficulty walking, instability and popping sound.
Athlete will not be able to return to play .
Why do you need to see a doctor for ACL tear?
Because most of the times ACL injuries are accompanied by some other injuries like meniscus or cartilage damage which can get worse if not treated properly leading to early arthritis.
Do all ACL tear needs surgery ?
Absolutely NO. It depends on level of tear (partial/ complete tear) and other associated injuries.
What WE DO for ACL tear?
We do a MINIMALLY INVASIVE ARTHROSCOPIC (KEY HOLE) ACL RECONSTRUCTION which is 30-40 minutes procedure that requires just one day admission in hospital.
What to expect after ACL surgery ?
Exercises started on day 1 of surgery.
You are back to normal walking within 3-6 weeks
Back to non contact sports in 6 months .
