Joint Replacement

Joint Replacement Surgery is no less than a boon for the elderly who have always wanted to enjoy with their grandchildren. It is a #surgical procedure that involves removing the damaged #cartilage and replacing them with a metal and highly cross linked plastic known as a prosthesis.

Can an elderly iive like a normal person or area there any complications?

"#Recovery and #rehabilitation after surgery differ from person to person," replies Dr Rahul Sharma of Life in Motion Clinic, Saket, when asked.

"Your orthopaedic #surgeon will encourage you to use your 'new' joint very soon after the surgery. It seems challenging to listen, but if one follows the surgeon's advice, they can be active like before very soon," he further adds.

Do they experience any pain later on?

"After complete recovery, #pain is a very uncommon thing. If the joint had been inactive for a longer period, the patient might feel pain in the starting due to inactive muscles, but gradually with regular #exercises, it diminishes completely."

If you have any questions about joint replacement, consult Dr Rahul Sharma, a joint-replacement expert, at Life in motion clinic in Sawan Neelu Angel's Hospital.
